AmpliTube Acoustic uses the same tone technology as the acclaimed AmpliTube 4 Custom Shop for Mac/PC. These are much better than the free app Line 6 put out because they had to. For those of you disappointed with the Mobile POD app by Line 6, try AmpKit, Amplitube or JamUp ProXT, etc. You can also expand your collection via in-app purchase: Turn your acoustic into a jangling 12 string with the "12 String" simulator, add some low-end with the "Bass Maker" or even change your guitar's body with the "Body Modeler." If you go with iPad, still put the money towards the best interface you can buy, then use the free versions of things like AmpliTube. ![]() Buy an interface that comes with a free version of Ableton Live 9 Lite and you'll be set. It doesn't cost you anything to try free first. ![]() And, if you're really not happy with them, then you can start looking at other software. Amplitube isn't much better, but at least you get some FX that broaden your range of sounds beyond the hairband extravaganza. The interface, and how you add or subtract pedals, is utterly hamfisted. ![]() The plus side You can have pretty much as many pedals going as you want. I was really surprised at how good they are. AmpKit is great if you want to sit around and play Metallica riffs all day. #Ampkit vs amplitube Pc#Honestly, if I were you, I would take the money I was going to spend on the software, put it towards a better interface, then (if I was going the PC route) I'd go here: and then here: and download everything.įor high gain stuff those free plugins are awesome. Apogee makes good stuff, so does Focusrite (but their iTrak Solo doesn't like AmpliTube FYI). Don't worry about sample rates over 96k, but do some research into the preamps. Get something that either connects through Lightning (if you go with iPad) or USB (if you go with PC). They're noisy and the sound quality is not good. #Ampkit vs amplitube pro#I'd stay away from the iRig (unless maybe the Pro DUO), and any other interface that uses your headphone jack. I have a PC so GarageBand is not an option but the Irig has Amplitube so that may be fine for me. Even just for listening at home, the single most critical component of a rig like this is the audio interface. Ampkit: Almost as complete as the Amplitube, but the recorder is only one track, the play along have only start and stop, you can not stop in the middle of the song and start again. Duncan mentioned the IRig HD2 which seems to be super simple yet effective so I may go that route. ![]()
